topic of the day is...
Sportsmanship.
hm i oso dunno how come, but i will tend to use sportsmanship as one of the criterion to gauge a person's character. its like how ppl feel tt guys who like babies must be a gd guy n ppl hu care for animals muz be a gd person n ppl hu argue w their elders muz be a bad person.. yada yada yada..
my decision to touch on this topic was sparked by wat happened tdy during our bball game. this player fr the opposite team had possession of the ball n one of our players went forward to pressure her. while tackling her, our player accidentally tripped n fell.. n the opposite team player actually went 'woohoo!' and continued playin. i was like wtf.. where got ppl lidat one?!? i was so pissed off tt i subconciously juz commented (quite loudly..) 'no sportsmanship at all.'
not tt i'm a perfect sportsman in terms of sportsmanship wise oso la but at least better than average. haha. ok la. guess everyone has diff pespective of wat's gd sportsmanship ba. so no rite no wrong oso.
When i started playin sports, i learnt tt u only cheer. u dun jeer. hm but somehow aft coming to uni, jeerin seems q common. taunting too. esp in softball. throw pitchy pitchy.. pitch ur head ar! but maybe its a culture in softball to taunt ba. maybe tt's y i dun really like softball. haha
i oso believe tt when playin sports, dun 玩臭. some ppl will plan n scheme to win. some ppl will deny their mistakes or sometimes even accuse the opponent for the mistake to win. i tink its q pointless cos if u win this way oso not v 光彩.
sth else i cannot stand is when ppl smoke in sports facilities like courts, fields n track. i juz find it v inconsiderate n also disrespectful to the sport. in the first place, i already dun like ppl hu smoke. n worse still is when u're having time out and tryin to catch ur breath. u take in deep breaths of air only to get choked on cigarette smoke. wtf.
i also believe tt vulgarities shld be either not used on court or at least kept under ur breath. sometimes i do mouth or mumble some when i dun play well but at least i dun use them on others. for the past few matches, this teammate of mine has been using really crude vulgarities on court tt even i oso dulan her lo. when she got substituted off, the supporters actually cheered la. how 丢脸 is tt. n the worse thing is some others are starting to follow suit. sighz.
so much so much more. but will type until 天亮. so shall stop here. hope the next game will be against a pleasant team! n of course us as a pleasant team as well.
