A post dedicated to Yap Xinli!!
hahaha ok. even though it says 20th july up there, it's actually 21st july cos of the time lag here. so lets juz imagine tt its 21st july here too!
wondering if u still preparing for ur party n stuff now cos its supposed to be 3 am in singapore now. i'm in the library using the comp ( like ah tiong again...) but this time is cos i waiting for my next lesson which is in one hr's time. anw there really isn't anyt much to say here cos i tink i said everyt i wanna say in sms n stuffs le. this post is juz one of the places to leave my blessings for u so tt they seem everywhere! hhahah learn fr u one.. when u were tryin to get me regarding the universal tix..
anw i muz emphasize again tt i'm so sad i cant be there!! =( rmb take lots of photos ar! esp of ur cake. hahah i wanna see how it turned out! u better organise a small replacement party for me to attend in jan when u get back! haha hm u n germ oso wont be arnd on my bday too.. germ! u the only lucky one where all 3 of us could meet up on ur bday! feel honoured not?!? haha anw hope ur party turn out great n u enjoy ur day ar! u're the princess for tdy! only tdy.. muahahahha n muz start to be more like adult! in other words, less childish.. whahhahh

social psych
i had tutorial class for my social psych class tdy n we were tokg abt social norm violation n social contagion. tink u all shld know wat social norm violation is la hor. social contagion is sth like when u see others doin sth different, u'l be curious n juz follw them in their action. one example andrew(my tutor) gave was tt in russia, when ppl see ppl queueing, they'l juz join the queue without knowing wat is at the end of the queue. (SPL 2.. haha)
so we're supposed to test this phenonmenon. my group went to the area outside the library n started pointing up to a tree n pretending tt there is sth interesting there, hoping ppl will come up n be curious. hahahha finally this girl fr this grp of ppl hu were hanging out nearby came over to us.. n all of us were like tinkg ' oh yes! its working!'. den the girl said,"hey sorry.. can u help us take a photo..?".... (-.-'') ahahah all of us burst out laughing.
missing ppl..
ok the title sounds wrong.. haha. hm i was juz msning tt day and realised i actually miss alot of ppl. and i'm missing ppl in phases. i've come to a conclusion tt i'l miss the person if i dun see them aft not a certain period of time n this period of time is determined by how often i meet them when i was in singapore. hahaa so its kinda interesting cos i'm starting to find out hu are the ppl i meet often n hu i dun..
rmb the first few days i juz reached US, i wasn't exactly missing my family tt much (eh but got reason one!). i actually missed my hall frens the most, esp mr hairy guy, mr chaota js and my precious fei fei. was tinkg muz be cos i used to see them practically everyday so naturally i'l miss them the most. oh btw thx ock for taking gd care of fei fei! =)

den i oso started to miss tan xueying cos i super long time nv see her! before i came she was in thailand so really really super long nv see her. n i really tried to call u before i left but cannot get thru! n i tried msging oso but msg cannot send.. =( not my fault! anw aft i get back we can tok again! got so much to say! hahah n ya.. i still tink its u hu has frens hu tink n do farny stuff.. whahahhaha
n jing2. hahaha only got to meet her like twice aft she got back to singapore den i had to leave for US le. hahaha but luckily when i get back she'l still be there! hahah
den aft tt started missing shiqi shikai they all and my beach buds.. n yadayadayada.. oh n xinli! e prob (u know which one?) still not settled yet. actually i oso nv go n tink abt it juz tt tt day got email n msn den got reminded. haha
anw i still dun really miss my family cos i sort of know tt they always be there kinda thing.. and tt no matter how long i'm away they'l still be my family n these 7 weeks is really nth compared to the time i can spend w them.. u know wat i mean? it kinda works almost the same way w xinli n germy too. guess tt's one of the reasons y u guys are not the first on my list. hahaha n i'd stayed away fr hme for a few mths before back in ntu so i guess it din really matter whether i was in ntu hall or UCLA apartment. hahaha geddit geddit?

so much for catching up....
hahaha finally caught up the last time only to lag again now.. ok shall continue..
Lazy weekend
hm i meant the weekend before the one tt juz passed.. meaning the sat n sun aft universal studios. we went to watch 'superman' in the theatres on sat night. wanted to watch 'pirates' but tix sold out. anw the theatre deco n stuff super nice! looks v grand.. but den.. juz as the show was about to start, the screen went blank.. hahaa zong kan bu zong yong... but i muz say the resolution of the screen is superb. went grocery shopping aft the show. bought super alot of fruits.. to make fruit and turkey ham sandwich for future dinners! super nice! yummy yum yum! i tried all sorts of combi..
as u can see.. these are the ingredients for my sandwich!! got apples, bananas, avacadoes, strawberries(the strawberries here damn cheap! 1lb for USD$1), turkey ham and wheat white bread. All sliced.. (remember i was tokg abt me learning how to xiang shou life now.. hahaha)

and the best one is...... the avacado-banana turkey ham sandwich! 2nd goes to.... apple-banana turkey ham sandwich! The mixture of banana-avacado is superb! the banana brings out the taste of the avacado while the avacado dilutes the overpowering sweetness of the bananas. all the other combis will mask the flavour of the avacadoes.. esp strawberries. once got strawberries, the only thing u can taste will be strawberries.. n taste like fresh straberry jam.. yums! the banana-apple one is oso nice cos the apple adds crunch to the sandwich. crunch crunch! =)
sunday woke up and went over to the guys' place to watch world cup finals..felt so sad for zidane! =( stupid italian la!go provoke him.. but the scene q comical.. for a moment abit hard to believe tt happened.. but still i feel so sad for him! haiz.. in the end the match lasted so long n ended w penalty which i tink is a damn dumb way to determine who the next WC champion will be.. anw was watchin the 3rd 4th match on sat n surprised tt at this level le still got own goal.. hahaa but the portugal diving header is juz super nice la!! anw aft finish watching the match everyone started stdyg cos midterms was the next week at tt time, which means its this week (i juz finished one paper n it kinda sucks..). hm i was at the sofa n before i knew it i fell aslp n was awaken by clarence saying,"hm i tink our sofa is deadly. anyone hu sits in them will fall aslp.." n tt is so true!! i turned to the other sofa n saw wenyao aslp holding his book. and everytime julin is in the sofa, she'l fall aslp.. hahaha dangerous sofas..
aft lazing arnd for the whole day, we cooked pasta for dinner! aft tt had cut fruits den had choc tang yuan for supper!! yums yums! jason made dumbbell shaped tang yuans while alex made tang chang.. aft tt julin, clarence, derick and wenyao started playing drinking games. haha they played indian poker and aft like half an hour, julin n derick both gone le. derick damn farny! tink he really drunk cos he started tokg nonsense nonstop. den left w clarence n wy hu started playin blackjack. in the end they decided to stop n chitchat. somehow when guys get tgt, they'l start tokg abt army. but their army stories all v farny! clarence (hu was in the same company or sth as shunyuan) was saying tt last time they had some outing n went to HMV. they said to meet at Topshop. den they waited damn long for sy only to find tt he was wating for them at the top level of HMV.. hahah
anw we toked till like 4plus am n decided tt its kinda late to go back ot my hse so i stayed over to finish my assignment which was due the next day (hm not last min at all..) hm we actually also toked abt investments, marriage, taking care of our family n stuff lidat.. n i realised their tinkg really mature. den i suddenly feel like some kiddo tho they only 2 yrs older..

VegasCanyon Trip!!
13th - 17th july '06, thurs - mon
packed up n set out on a roadtrip to Las Vegas on the thurs tt juz passed! Went w julin, her fren jian hong and the farny guy. dunno y i asked him oso.. he cant even help w the driving burden.. haiyo.. hahah..
we rented a red chevrolet n drove for 5 to 6 hrs down to vegas. took longer than we expected due to lousy traffic conditions. but when we were nearing the place we saw this beam of light shining in to the air (like some beam of hope lidat)n my fren told us tt was the trademark of one of the hotels there. so we juz started cheonging our way there. we actually went up to 100mph.. damn shiok.. but dangerous.. hmm.. we had wanted to eat buffet but by the time we reached there it was already 10 plus n all buffets finish le.. =(
we stayed in Stratosphere. aft we reached there, we had dinner n went to bed. the weather was damn hot!! it was windy but it was hot wind. the next morning we went to IHOP for breakfast. its this place which sells traditional american breakfast. Yap Xinli muz go try! its a chain restaurant. i tried the buttermillk pancakes w apple n cinnamon dressing. nice!
aft tt we went to the outlets there. the stuff not say super cheap oso la. but still cheaper than singapore. bought USD$200+ of stuff there! cant believe it man.. but it was cos i bought 2 sweaters which cost arnd 100 le.. bought 1 for my sis n 1 for myself. i tink its v nice! next time i wear n show u all.
went for a show aft tt. Le Reve. Its a water based show w lots of acrobatic stunts in it. was damn gd! but damn ex. the tix cost USD$117 each. but since there le juz watch lo. wanted to watch other better ones but all sold out.

went to walk arnd to see the night scene n hotels n stuff. all their hotels got theme one n the theme is the name of the hotel n each hotel has their own show. all the neon lights really make the city very vibrant n colourful and yet not sleazy. v tastefully done.

went to Grand Canyon the next morning! another great adventure! we set out too late n we dilly dally.. in the end we reached there at 6pm n tt's considered damn late cos we gotta get down before sunset if not cannot see the path.. but in the end we still ended up hiking in the dark. was damn scary! it was so windy at night n we were hiking down steep rocky paths w cliffs on one side! suddenly feel tt we damn lucky to be alive man... but saw damn damn alot of stars! n managed to take some really nice pics! =)

so where did the shit come in? hahaha along the path tt we hiking on, there were lots n lots of mule shit! cos mules were used to transport ppl, food n drinks down to the lodging at the bottom of the canyon. n they juz pooed as they walk down the path so there is always a danger of stepping on shit every step we take. so we deviced a way of preventing tt. the person hu's leading will shout 'shit alert!' when there's mule shit ahead on the path. but aft a while, it got so dark we couldn't see.. n it got so dangerous tt we'd rather step on shit than to avoid it n fall off the cliff.. hahaha
we stayed overnight at phantom ranch at the bottom of the canyon. we reached there at arnd 10 plus at night and had a little bbq for dinner!

we started off at 8am the next day which was considered super late cos the sun was scorching at midday! i tink it was 120 degrees ferenheit tt day.. which is arnd 40 plus degrees celcius. jian hong had diarrhoa n was dehydrating so farny guy decided to stop w him at this shelter to call for help. he told julin n me to go ahead first so we went. we had little water so we rationed alittle n asked for water from passing hikers.
aft hiking past halfway, we saw farny guy heading towards us so we q happy cos tot they caught up.. den we realised jh not w him! so we asked him where jh was.. n realised he left him there at the shelter alone.. hu in the right mind would leave a sick person in the middle of a desert?!? he told us tt he left him there w sufficient food n water which they found in the shelter n had came aft us cos he tot we din hve enough water.. only to find tt we were doin fine.. until now i still cant believe he actually left jh alone there.. so in the end we decided to hike up to the rangers place to ask for help.
we met some workers on the way n told them wat happened n one of them commented,"i hope he's still ur fren when u all reunite.." in the end jh started hiking up aft feeling better n met a ranger hu was looking for him halfway. so finally everyone was safe back in the car. n aft tt julin n me ignored farny guy the whole way back to LA.. hahah
went wal mart on the way back and bought a tennis racket! hahahah oh ya! i taking tennis lessons here cos q cheap n can learn new skill. super fun!
anw aft we got back, julin told the guys abt wat happened at canyon n now farny guy is ranked second in the 'guy they wanna meet most here'. hahaa ranked first is this guy called apoorv. no one has seen him before but he always post stuff on the google group n the most recent one he was askin if we had plans this weekend n tt to email him if we do. n his email was 'apoorv_luvs_u@hotmail.com'.... some email add huh...

VegasCanyon Trip!!
13th - 17th july '06, thurs - mon
packed up n set out on a roadtrip to Las Vegas on the thurs tt juz passed! Went w julin, her fren jian hong and the farny guy. dunno y i asked him oso.. he cant even help w the driving burden.. haiyo.. hahah..
we rented a red chevrolet n drove for 5 to 6 hrs down to vegas. took longer than we expected due to lousy traffic conditions. but when we were nearing the place we saw this beam of light shining in to the air (like some beam of hope lidat)n my fren told us tt was the trademark of one of the hotels there. so we juz started cheonging our way there. we actually went up to 100mph.. damn shiok.. but dangerous.. hmm.. we had wanted to eat buffet but by the time we reached there it was already 10 plus n all buffets finish le.. =(
we stayed in Stratosphere. aft we reached there, we had dinner n went to bed. the weather was damn hot!! it was windy but it was hot wind. the next morning we went to IHOP for breakfast. its this place which sells traditional american breakfast. Yap Xinli muz go try! its a chain restaurant. i tried the buttermillk pancakes w apple n cinnamon dressing. nice!
aft tt we went to the outlets there. the stuff not say super cheap oso la. but still cheaper than singapore. bought USD$200+ of stuff there! cant believe it man.. but it was cos i bought 2 sweaters which cost arnd 100 le.. bought 1 for my sis n 1 for myself. i tink its v nice! next time i wear n show u all.
went for a show aft tt. Le Reve. Its a water based show w lots of acrobatic stunts in it. was damn gd! but damn ex. the tix cost USD$117 each. but since there le juz watch lo. wanted to watch other better ones but all sold out.

went to walk arnd to see the night scene n hotels n stuff. all their hotels got theme one n the theme is the name of the hotel n each hotel has their own show. all the neon lights really make the city very vibrant n colourful and yet not sleazy. v tastefully done.

hahha not tokg abt u germaine.. haha but the next day was a day filled with lots of shit! metaphorically n literally...
went to Grand Canyon the next morning! another great adventure! we set out too late n we dilly dally.. in the end we reached there at 6pm n tt's considered damn late cos we gotta get down before sunset if not cannot see the path.. but in the end we still ended up hiking in the dark. was damn scary! it was so windy at night n we were hiking down steep rocky paths w cliffs on one side! suddenly feel tt we damn lucky to be alive man... but saw damn damn alot of stars! n managed to take some really nice pics! =)

so where did the shit come in? hahaha along the path tt we hiking on, there were lots n lots of mule shit! cos mules were used to transport ppl, food n drinks down to the lodging at the bottom of the canyon. n they juz pooed as they walk down the path so there is always a danger of stepping on shit every step we take. so we deviced a way of preventing tt. the person hu's leading will shout 'shit alert!' when there's mule shit ahead on the path. but aft a while, it got so dark we couldn't see.. n it got so dangerous tt we'd rather step on shit than to avoid it n fall off the cliff.. hahaha
we stayed overnight at phantom ranch at the bottom of the canyon. we reached there at arnd 10 plus at night and had a little bbq for dinner!
counterclockwise fr bottom right. jian hong, julin, farny guy, me! n our leftover pit in the centre!we started off at 8am the next day which was considered super late cos the sun was scorching at midday! i tink it was 120 degrees ferenheit tt day.. which is arnd 40 plus degrees celcius. jian hong had diarrhoa n was dehydrating so farny guy decided to stop w him at this shelter to call for help. he told julin n me to go ahead first so we went. we had little water so we rationed alittle n asked for water from passing hikers.
aft hiking past halfway, we saw farny guy heading towards us so we q happy cos tot they caught up.. den we realised jh not w him! so we asked him where jh was.. n realised he left him there at the shelter alone.. hu in the right mind would leave a sick person in the middle of a desert?!? he told us tt he left him there w sufficient food n water which they found in the shelter n had came aft us cos he tot we din hve enough water.. only to find tt we were doin fine.. until now i still cant believe he actually left jh alone there.. so in the end we decided to hike up to the rangers place to ask for help.
we met some workers on the way n told them wat happened n one of them commented,"i hope he's still ur fren when u all reunite.." in the end jh started hiking up aft feeling better n met a ranger hu was looking for him halfway. so finally everyone was safe back in the car. n aft tt julin n me ignored farny guy the whole way back to LA.. hahah
went wal mart on the way back and bought a tennis racket! hahahah oh ya! i taking tennis lessons here cos q cheap n can learn new skill. super fun!
anw aft we got back, julin told the guys abt wat happened at canyon n now farny guy is ranked second in the 'guy they wanna meet most here'. hahaa ranked first is this guy called apoorv. no one has seen him before but he always post stuff on the google group n the most recent one he was askin if we had plans this weekend n tt to email him if we do. n his email was 'apoorv_luvs_u@hotmail.com'.... some email add huh...

catching up catching up!
hahahaha i realised my previous posts really really too long ar.. until i oso sian to read thru to correct grammar n stuff.. haaha so i shall keep this time's relatively shorter.
1st july '06, saturday
revisiting hollywood
went to hollywood again, but this time with 3 of the 5 guys and the girl. hm i tink i shall tell u their names if not always refer to them to the 5 guys n the girl.. so weird. hm the girl is called julin and the 5 guys are wenyao, alex, clareance, jason and derick. so went hollywood w julin, alex, clarence n derick.
hm this time the trip to hollywood was a little better. maybe cos there was a larger crowd n thus better atmosphere. but cos this time go w frens the trip abit more draggy cos always deciding where to go n stuff. but oso got pros la. like got ppl to tok to n stuff. anw there really isn't much to do there so in the end we ended up having dinner at california pizza kitchen aft an hr or so of walking..
the service there is really superb. but q paiseh cos we all v budget one ma.. so we ordered 2 pizzas, which by right is a pizza per person, and a wrap and shared. den the waiter like q sian diao cos lidat means his tips oso qill be q little. hahha. anw the tips for servers really impt! haaha dun give nvm... at most they juz spit into ur food the next time u come or juz chase u out or sth.. lidat only la.. haha the guys were sayin tt the last time they went to this thai noodle stall to eat. the total bill was sth like USD22.97.. den when they gave the waiter 50 bucks the waiter asked them how much they want for change.. they din realise tt the guy was indirectly askin how much tips they gona give him.. den wenyao tot he was askin if got smaller notes or sth so he took the 50 dollar note back n gave the person 23bucks.. haaha so effectively they juz gave the person 3 cents as tips. den the waiter's face juz stoned n sian diao. then they nv realise somemore n juz took their stuff n walked out..
anw aft we finished our food at the pizza place we juz sat there n tok kok. found out tt the guys are really farny n they always do farny stuff. cant really rmb wat they do cos this blog delay too long ar.. haha next time when i catch up le i'l tell u all afew.. anw aft tt went to ralphs to shop before heading hme. ralphs open 24 hrs one. but alex was saying tt there was once they went n was surprised to find it closed.. den they found out tt they were closed cos a car juz rammed into their front door n damaging it so they gotta close...yea.. all sorts of things happen everyday here...

boring chinatown
went to chinatown. maybe its cos its sunday so most shops closed or wat.. but its really deserted there. noone on the streets and few shops open. so in the end we juz walked up n down some deserted streets, went into some shops which were open (one was a cafe which sells chinese pastries and the other was a japanese anime shop.. so are we in chinatown or japantown...). the only interesting n relatively exciting shop we found there was a asian grocery shop. we bought pork ribs, glutinous rice flour and green beans so tt we can hve hme cooked dineer the next night!
3rd july '06, monday
first full home-cooked dinner here!
went to westwood village w julin in the morn to buy some stuff n got a local phone number. but tink i got the wrong plan. nvm gona go change soon. anw aft tt went to sch in the aftnnon to crash the guys' lecture to see wat it was like. den went over to the guys' place to cook bak kut teh! julin had a pack of instant bak kut teh n so we used tt to cook. considering it was our first attempt, it turned out really gd! haah wenyao was in charge of rice n he kept saying tt the rice he cooked is too hard and tt we would all choked if we ate it. in the end the rice turned out ok la.. haha den he say cos he like to chi luan fan.. anw aft we were gona start eating den realised wenyao dun really eat pork.. n tt all tt we hve on the table is white rice n pork.. haha so jason went to fry egg n hotdog.
aft dinner, the guys washed up (n they were surprisingly meticulous n clean) and alex and wenyao cut honey dew, apples and strawberries for everyone. hahaha the honey dew was pain-stakingly chosen by alex hu stood by the honey dew tray for like 15 mins smelling (n some knocking) all of them before coming to a conclusion tt tt one was gd. but ok la. he's q gd cos in the end it really turned out sweet. hahah
aft dinner juz watched farny clips on youtube w some of the guys n tok kok. julin fell aslp on the sofa so i was waiting for her to wake up to go back but in the end she looked so deep aslp so i juz left without her. hahha dun tink the guys will do anyt to her.. n it was like 2 am or sth le. whahaha
anw i tink i'm starting to learn how to enjoy life! whahaahah usu i wont even bother eating breakfast in the morning cos too ma fan.. n even if eat i'l juz grab a slice of bread n munch or sth. but now i actually eat breakfast everyday! n its not a slice of bread! i actually take out a bowl n pour milk n cereals in it! last time in hall if i eat cereals n milk i'l juz put some cereals in my mouth n drink one mouthful of milk straight fr the carton den like bite them tgt to make it seem like they were mixed.. hahaah n i actually fry eggs n mushrooms and some hotdogs to make egg-mushroom-hotdog sandwich for breakfast tdy! n i actually cut my fruits now when i eat them! last time i'd juz bite my strawberries off the leafy part.. now i actually cut them off dne put them into a plate so tt can xiang shou them without standing beside the dustbin to throw the leafy part away! hahaha the level of xiang shou is actually q worth the trouble! hahaha can consider making tt into a habit. and i oso decided to go back to my hall rom to decorate it! hahaaha inspired by my roomie. she only stayin here for 6 weeks n she decorated the place until damn nice! hahahah n i gona stay in my hall for 1 yr! gd investment..

independence day!!
YAY!! Happy Independence Day to everyone! hahahaha not like i aprreciate or care abt the history n stuff but its a HOLIDAY!! haha. ok la. its a big thing for americans so shall take back wat i juz said before i get beaten up.. anw other than the fact tt its a holiday, its oso a day w fireworks! the 7 of us rented a car n drove down to Rose bowl (the place where all the NSL games are played) to watch fireworks! went into the stadium n there was an orchestra playin nice music for arnd 2 hrs before the fireworks started. it lasted for half an hr n its totally worth the wait! its superbly nice!!! i took a video of it but haven uploaded it into my comp yet. will upload soon! but its a million times nicer real life la! n i din take one of the nicer segments.. heh..

had sch fr 830hrs to 1500hrs. aft tt went to this shopping mall w jason, julin clarence and derick. jason is a damn nice bf la! hahhah tink he go everywhere will tink abt his gf one n will buy stuff for her. haahaha n julin is a super lihai shopper! hahaah she spent arnd USD 250 in VS in like half an hr!
hm aft walkin arnd we ended up sitting in a food court eating n toking kok. haha realised we always end up doin tt. but i like. hahaha i like to be able to sit n tok kok cos it shows tt i dun hve anyt tt i need to do which means i can relax. anw i tried the honey dew ice blended n its q nice! v refreshing!

universal studios!
all of us except wenyao met up at arnd 830 at BK to go universal studios. supposedly wenyao stayed hme to stdy n do laundry.. hahahah sounds farny.. anw reached there n took almost all of their rides.. luckily we went there early cos the queues got really really long as it got later. we all agreed tt the lousiest attraction is van helsing.. which was the first attraction we went to. was supposed to be like a scary house thing but in the end was not scary at all. apparently some ghost actor tried to scare me.. but i din even notice it la.. den my frens were saying tt the ghost damn sian diao when i juz walked past him... hahahaha.. i was readin some review of the park n they said tt the terminator ride is gd but i found tt not as gd as the shrek one. the other rides were not bad. the mummy returns was gd but the ride was damn short n the drops were damn small so not much kick.. i tink the rides there all not much kick .. but the effects n stuff are really not bad. there was this tram ride tt brings us to the backstage n stuff.. saw wisteria lane! and i like the house fr 'the grinch' which they still had there. tink our guide was gd oso la. i oso like hte special effects show. so yap xinli! if u tinkg of goin i giving u tips on wat u shld go first n stuff le! hahhah n if u want i can help u get tix at lower rate fr my sch! tell me if u want ok! six flag here oso got cheaper tix!

Part 2 serving right up!
YaY! i'm back! ok continue fr where i left off. hmm.. was talking abt my adventure on the first night i arrived.. ok so move on to the next day!
26th june '06, monday
orientation
hm woke up in the morn freezing. was super cold. but den i get cold v easily one so its normal la.. luckily i still had the blanket tt i stole off the airplane. if not i'l wake up in a blk of ice. i finished unpacking my stuff n uploading pics into my comp den set off to explore the sch at arnd noon.
to get to sch i need to walk up 2 steep and 1 gentle upslopes, and 2 steep downslopes.. arnd there la. so walk back will be the opposite. went to the Powell library to use the internet(the start of my ah tiong days... so glad its over. hahaha). Had to plan and confirm my timetable for NTU subj registration. was online alot of the time during those few days n felt q dumb when i see everyone on msn cos i feel like it is no different fr when i was in singapore.. and somemore i supposed to be out exploring n stuff instead of being in a library using msn! but its not my fault tt i really gotta settle my timetable stuff n msn is the fastest way to lias w my frens! hahahah anw ya, now tt registration is over, notice i not online so often anymore.. hee..
ok sidetrack abit.. rmb i was telling u abt saint swt? hahahah ok. aft typing and deleting a few times, i decided tt i dunno how to type it here without downplaying wat he did. hhaah so i'l juz hve to tell u all in person the next time i meet u guys! hm germaine! maybe i'l hve to tell u on msn since i wont be mtg u.. =( den i can shun bian tell u all abt the other nice ppl next time! hahah too lazy to type ar.. n oso dunno how to bring the pt across. hahha
anw i bai a super BIG wu long! hahahah i went to the library on tues evening 4plus pm, all ready for the registration for my subjs which is at 6plus pm (went early cos i still haven cfm wat subj i wanted to take..) when i met this person online hu told me tt the registration is actually the next day, which is wed... felt super dumb la.. haahhahh and i still argued w him at first insisting tt i'm rite n counting out the time diff n stuff.. only to find out tt i missed out an entire 24 hrs.. hahahha how dumb can i get.. i tink this is one of the few times i'm actually not last min n is way too early for stuff.. see la! not last min oso not gd lei! hahahaha
ok back to my oreientation. went to find the buildings where my classes would be held den had lunch in one of the buildings called ackerman union. had 'panda express' which serves chi food. its q ex.. arnd USD5.5 for rice n 2 sides but den the portion is really HUGE! a fortune cookie came w every set we buy. first time i tried fortune cookies.. feel so sua ku but its v nice! hahhaha sweet sweet biscuit. n there's a piece of paper in it tt supposedly tells u ur fortune (hence fortune cookie...). anw the sch is really pretty! v diff fr the universities in singapore, esp NTU. hahaaha i haven taken any pics of the sch yet. next time take le den upload. but the sch really q big. one week in sch le n i still need to use the map to get arnd..
aft tt i went to Ralph's which is this supermarket.. like NTUC lidat juz tt more highclass. went there did some grocery shopping with my korean housemate Bomi(the bimbo i was telling u all abt.. rmb?). hahaha tell u more abt her later. anw aft tt we rushed down to this organised orientation thingy at Rieber Hall, which is sth like the hostels in NTU n NUS. hm i went there n met some singaporeans. but i din meet the grp of ppl i hangin out w now there. it was aft tt tt i got to know them. aft the orientation thingy, which was damn crap, i went to visit the room of one of the singaporeans i juz met but had been msging on the google grp for the exchange. I was expecting the person to be a girl la cos of his name.. but den when he turned out to be a guy i was super sian diao..( hahha ok sounds farny...) n somemore he's a persistant guy whom i cant really communicate with. n cos before tt we were saying tt the both of us participated the programme on our own, we decided to meet up n hang out tgt(n tt was when i still tot he was a girl..). so now i'm a little obliged to join him on his explorations. ok i tink i'm q biased n stuff but he really kinda irritates me. hahaha but cos i seldom go online le so nv really keep in contact oso le.
anw ya.. the ppl i hangin out w now are actually 5 guys hu are staying 2 streets down fr me and this girl hu oso came to this prog alone. all of us same batch one. 2 of them are fr my school, 1 of them fr my hall, and they got my msn fr this common fren tt we hve. Luckily they found me.. if not i'd either be stuck w tt farny guy tt i tot was a girl, or i'd juz be bored to death over the past few days. phew... hahhaha

extraordinary day
got woken up by an alarm in the morning. was q loud n was tinkg y my roomie (she's called Linda) turned up the vol of her alarm clock when she told me the night before tt she tinks tt her alarm was too loud.. den still half aslp, i heard linda asking me to wake up in a v urgent kinda voice. so i tot tt all our alarm clocks spoilt n din ring n tt we were all gona be late for lessons already cos we all hve classes at 830am. (now i tink abt it.. its seems dumb... how can all our alarm clocks spoil at the same time...?? hmm... muz really be half aslp den...) so i jumped up only to see tt its 530am in the morn. den i heard the alarm stop n saw linda rushing arnd the hse.. den suddenly this deafening sound filled the air.. deni realised juz now tt one not alarm clock.. it was the fire alarm.. and it was actually my apartment tt set off the alarm... which means my apartment was on fire! OMG! hahaah felt like a dream la! but by the time i was fully awake, linda had already done all tt was to be done, like opening all windows n doors, fanning away the smoke and stuff.. hm actually its not a fire la.. juz got alot of smoke.. in the end the fire engine n fire trucks came n we had to apologise to them. they turned off the alarm n left. den some of our neighbours had already dressed up n came out of their apartments juz in case is real fire..n a few of them actually q pissed.. cos so early! n it was really damn loud.. i tink if its in singapore, the whole of amk n bishan can hear la!
aft we went back into our apartment, we asked Bomi wat happened. she said she tot tt there was stuff in the pot left so she wanted to heat it up. she din really check den in the end turn out there was nth in the pot. so the pot started burning up.. den dunno where she go oso.. in the end the smoke juz filled the whole hse.. den set off the hse alarm.. n cos we din turn our hse alarm off in time, the super loud alarm sounded n brought the firemen here.. how exciting... hahhah another adventure of a lifetime.
anw aft tt Bomi locked herself in the toilet for like 50 mins... den all of us wanted to get ready for sch but couldn't.. n i needed to shit.. n i waited outside for like super long until i cannot take it den i ask her if she'd ok in the bathroom. den she came out n said she ok.. hahaa ya anw saw her smoking outside the apartment juz now. was super surprised tt she smokes! she looks the qian jing xiao jie, guai guai type. haaha ren bu ke mao xiang man!
anw yea.. den nth much happened except for the super big wu long tt i talked abt juz now... n tt it was the first day of sch for me. hm i tink the lecturers here much more interesting than the lecturers in NTU. they like more humorous n friendly. maybe its cos of the subj i doin n oso i excited cos overseas ar.. hahahah shall give some credit to NTU lecturers.

hahahh ok i make it seem like subj registraion is a super big thing but no la.. i juz cant tink of wat to put as the title so i juz anyhow pop sth.. hm had tutorial in the morn. den met the farny guy to go to area near sch to 'explore'. haiz ok i biased but its cos its really hard to communicate w him. he doesn't care abt ur opinions. hm i dunno if he doesn't hear them or dun understand them or juz ignoring them. hm one of the conversations went sth lidat:

anw thx to mr saint swt, everyt turned out well! (tho there were really alot of probs.. n conplicated ones somemore.. haahh tt's y i really appreciated his help) took a few hrs to settle the registration before leaving everyt to swt to settle cos it was gettin q late n i was like in the farny guy's rm using his comp while he n his roommate were aslp on their beds.. den was so weird when i had to leave cos he wouldn't wake up even aft i shook him so i juz left a note of appreciation n left.
anw before tt he wanted to treat me to dinner at his hall with his meal plans but when we went there he realised tt his meals plans cannot be used for guests. but in the end the person there damn nice juz let me in for free.. the dinner there is buffet style one n its really damn nice la! got hot chocolate and marshmellows!! super super nice!! haahahah but the farny guy say the food there everyday almost the same.. so q sian aft a while..

fun day at the beach!
went to santa monica beach! hm met the 5 guys for the first time n was gona go to the beach w them. and i've nv even seen them before. abit weird but i tink so much weird stuff happening to me tt nth seems to be weird anymore! hahaha anw was supposed to meet them at BK nearby. din know wat to expect cos i dun even know wat they look like so dunno how to find them oso.. anw when i reach they were not there yet cos there wasn't any grp of guys hanging out in BK. so i juz waited for them at one of the tables. aft awhile 4 guys trooped into the place. ok la. q obvious its them cos they juz look singaporean. its amusing tt u can tell tt someone is a singaoprean juz by the way they dress. n the first word fr their mouth u can cfm whether they singaporean not.. hahhh anw luckily got this guy fr my hall one so at least abit familiar n got common topic to start conversation. but later found out tt they v easy to tok to. so v gd! n they v shui bian oso. but den maybe a bit too shuibian den always hang arnd deciding wat to do or where to go next cos everyone oso shuibian..haahahah
anw in the end total got 9 ppl. the 5 guys, the girl, another 2 ppl fr ntu hu juz joined in n me. hm i dun hve any photos so cannot show u all. if i can get fr the others den maybe i post! took bus to the beach. some of us cycled while the rest rollerbladed. we cycled along the beach n the view n atmosphere was gd! v relaxing place. hahhha we rented the bikes for one hr. when it was 5 mins to times up, we were still like super super damn far away fr the rental place. so unless we wanted to cycle for another hr, we'd hve to teleport back there or sth la.. hahahahah n we decided not to go for another hr so we practically flew back on our bikes! i tink we went over the speed limit allowed on the path.. haahah in the end the guys were the ones laggin behind while the girls flying ahead. hahaha YEA man! girls rock! haaha no la.. i tink guys are juz heavier so need more strength to cycle themselves.. whhahahah
hm aft tt we walked down the pier to the end. and it was REALLY nice. it looked into the ocean n the sun was already q low. the water was sparkling n there were sea gulls above. there was a musician playing the organ n singing. he's really damn gd! he sang soothing songs tt really set the mood on the pier. feels super surreal.. makes me feel like i'm in some kinda of a dream.. there were ppl fishing.. ppl juz looking at the beautiful view.. some enjoying the music.. n juz relaxing... felt so gd!
aft tt we went for dinner in a food court like place n i ate mongolian bbq. was q gd juz tt the sauce they added juz masked over everyt n everyt juz tasted like the sauce. but the sauce is nice la. hahhaah n it was super cold cos near the sea.. n i was dressed in singlet n fbt. so was freezing la! hahaha the weather here is really super weird. its actually q chilly without the sun's rays. eg if i'm under a tree in the day, i can feel cold. but once i get out fr the shade, i'l feel hot. hahaah n the weather here is unpredictable. can be real cold sometimes n real hot the next min.
oh ya! sth damn farny. one of the public toilets there got no doors on the cubicles one.. hah den one of the guys was complaining tt he went into a cubicle (no door) den when he sitting on the toilet bowl he looked up to see a hole in the wall of the toilet.. den say he saw a lady walking past pushing a pram w a baby. hahaha so means ppl fr outside n look in oso.. hahaaha den somebody else said 'poor baby.. maybe kena traumatised cos see stuff tt he not supposed to see..' so dumb rite.. hahhaha
oh! sth unrelated. i found out tt this jc classmate of mine is getting tgt w this girl fr my hall. hahaa i tink i was the cupid. yay so exciting! i upgraded to cupid status le. hahahahah

orientation
hm woke up in the morn freezing. was super cold. but den i get cold v easily one so its normal la.. luckily i still had the blanket tt i stole off the airplane. if not i'l wake up in a blk of ice. i finished unpacking my stuff n uploading pics into my comp den set off to explore the sch at arnd noon.
to get to sch i need to walk up 2 steep and 1 gentle upslopes, and 2 steep downslopes.. arnd there la. so walk back will be the opposite. went to the Powell library to use the internet(the start of my ah tiong days... so glad its over. hahaha). Had to plan and confirm my timetable for NTU subj registration. was online alot of the time during those few days n felt q dumb when i see everyone on msn cos i feel like it is no different fr when i was in singapore.. and somemore i supposed to be out exploring n stuff instead of being in a library using msn! but its not my fault tt i really gotta settle my timetable stuff n msn is the fastest way to lias w my frens! hahahah anw ya, now tt registration is over, notice i not online so often anymore.. hee..

Finally...
yay!! No more ah tiong days for me! cos i finally got my own internet connection. aft so many problems.. n before this gotta go to the library to use the comps there like ah tiong lidat.. anw still gotta thank many ppl for helping me out with the internet prob, namely saint swt(seriously! i see a faint halo above his head. tell u all next time.. he helped me like super alot la), mr farny and resourceful js n mr comp-damn-zai bz. else i tink i'l be dead. ok la.. not so serious but nearly there la.. cos will hve to go sch every time i need the comp den go sch need to climb so many hills n i'l juz die on one of the hills one day la.... hm i tink i'm skippin alot of details here so most prob u muz be tinkg wat the hell i'm tokg abt. ok so i shall start fr the day i left singapore! ok its gona be super long. u can either read everyt (which i tink u'l most prob fall aslp before u can finish) or u can juz not read everyt (duh...). hahahhaah ok kok.
the night before i left was super hectic cos as usual, i super last min n still packing my stuff. (hm i juz learnt in class tt procrastinating n liking to do stuff last min is actually a form of self-handicapping. it means to do things before ur actual 'performance' tt can serve as an excuse later on when u fail and oso to make urself seem good. like eg u try to fall sick before a difficult match so tt when u lose u can say its cos u are sick n not cos din play well.N when u win, u'l tink 'wow i sick still can win. i'm gd.' hahhah make sense? hahahah Short Psych Lesson(SPL) 1. but i seriously dun tink tt's the case here.. i tink i'm juz lazy..) anw, den my mum said to leave my hse at 4am so my parents drove me down to the airport arnd 4am. they were like doin last min checks w me to see if i brought everyt in the car. hm and i tink we were supposed to reach at 4am actually cos aft i reached n checked everyt in, we went for breakfast n aft buyin our stuff we realised my plane already last call.. maybe the last min thing runs in my family.. hahahah
anw got onto the plane den plane fly off n stuff.. the usual la.. den look out of the window den see the airport buildings den feel sad to leave singapore n stuff.. ok. tt's wat happens in the movies la. n since i not in movie so tt din happen to me. i juz went past the customs den go to the gate i supposed to be at. got super alot of security measures la.. den i so sway got asked to check my shoes... so i had to take off my shoes n pass to the officer.. den she took out my insoles to check la.. like hello... i look so nice n innocent... y would i hide drugs or weapons in my shoes?!? the prob is not w having to take off my shoes but w them taking out my insoles cos they are damn difficult to put back in! den the officer gave up aft a while n passed my shoe n insoles back separately.. n i had to stand there like some idiot lidat for 10 mins struggling to put back my insoles...

aft reach LA airport, i took this blue colour super shuttle to USAhostels in hollywood. on the way there, the view is really not sth i'd expect of LA. its more like a desert than i imagined it to be. the sun is scorching n its barren almost everywhere.. got some trees n stuff la.. but really little as compared to singapore. reached the hostel den checked in. left my luggage n stuff in the rm n went out to hollywood to walk. hm maybe cos it was a weekday or sth.. the roads were q empty n deserted.
walked along the walk of fame and saw some interesting names like the one here!
went to the graumann's chinese theatre to see the footprints n handprints of famous ppl, den went to hollywood highlands and almost got to go on espn.. hahaha i was watching world cup game in one of the shops cos they hve big screens inside. den england scored a goal n den the screen suddenly changed to show fans of england inside the shop where i was at but in front of another screen cheering.. so qiao rite..
anw aft tt i went walkin arnd the area.. got lost abit.. n saw the ugly side of the town. no offense to ppl hu like hollywood but i tink the place is kinda trashy.. half the shops i walked down were sleazy lingerie shops, a third are souvenir shops, a few were restaurants, another few were attractions and the rest were closed. n there were like a lot of homeless a little further away fr the main tourist area. they were juz lying by the roads n like ten thousand years nv bathe le or sth la.. n the attractions were oso not as nice as i expected. maybe cos my expectations of hollywood q high oso la.. i mean like hollywood sounds so class n everyt.. ya.. so yap xinli! dun expect too much fr hollywood ar! den maybe ur impression of tt place would be better. hahahah n go on weekend! cos more ppl den atmosphere much better. i went again ystd w a grp of frens n i tink it was much better. was a saturday.. anw aft walkin for a whole day under the sun, went back to the hostel. n tt was when i found out i was gona hve lots of trouble w my internet connection using the lappy i borrowed fr js. anw, yea, i exchanged my desktop w him for his lappy. luckily he v shuang kuai abt it n tt really saved me alot of trouble. n oh ya.. aft the first day in hollywood, i got sunburnt. N i nv even get sunburnt in singapore when i go sentosa for the whole day la.. tt's how bad the sun was. haha.

Start of a beautiful journey!
woke up in the morn den ate pancakes in the hostel! first time cooking pancakes! so fun! den i rushed off to take the subway to union station to take amtrak train to San Francisco. i left really q early la! but as i told u, i tink this last min thing runs in the family n turned out tt when i reach there to collect the train ticket, i was already late n the train already ready to leave. so the person at the counter ask me to hurry up. managed to rush there n hop onto the train in time. even though i got onto the train q late, i managed to get gd seats! i sat on the window seat on the side facing the ocean which is the left side of the carriage (<--yap xinli! u reading this??) and the other seat beside me was empty. anw the train ride to SF was pretty long cos of some delay. some lady fell down on the train n knocked her head so had to get medical help. so instead of riding for arnd 11 hrs, i rode for 13 hrs. but cos of the delay, i managed to get some really great photos of the sunset! the train i took goes along the coast so can see the vast ocean! super nice!

hm cos of the delay, i reached the hostel in SF at like 12 plus at night. It was super cold tho its summer and i had to lug my luggage up these steep hills n by the time i got to my rm, all my roommates were slping already. den it was so dark n i din know my way arnd the rm, so i juz skipped my bath n juz went to bed.. haha ok gross but i oso nv do much except for sit in the train wat! hahhaha

i love 'Spare the Air' day!
my hostel is situated at sutter-taylor street, which is a gd location. close to union sq n market st and oso to chinatown. i went to explore arnd my hostel in the morn.
went to macy's, levi's, niketown, union sq, sak's fifth avenue, disney store, borders etc. hm really liked the exterior of the shops. one of the staff was saying tt SF is v into beautification of the city n they really take pride and the trouble to make the buildings look nice and to grow and maintain flowers n stuff. they actually hve laws in the city to ensure tt every victorian house in the city is of a different colour n design fr the one beside it...
aft walkin arnd, i went to fisherman's wharf. was gona go buy tix for the cable car when i found out tt it was 'spare the air day' and tt all public transport was free! and cable car was considered public transport and it was originally 5 bucks per ride. MUAHAHHAAHA super happy! saved like super alot. anw aft i found out tt public transport was free, i changed my plans n decided to go take the SF subway juz to see wat it was like. i took the subway to civic centre and visited a public library (oso dunno how come i go visit library... hmm...) before taking subway back again to powell station. den i took the cable car (pic above!) to fisherman's wharf.
fisherman's wharf is a really touristy place and there wasn't much nice stuff except for pier 39!! its a really nice place! somewhere i wouldn't mind goin again!

the cells are really small and they really had little freedom in there. hm so glad i dun stay in there. haah but den again.. i so law-abiding.. definitely wont end up there one! whahahahah
went to the Ghirardelli chocolate factory aft tt. but its no longer a factory. its now a shopping kinda plce. but got free ghirardelli choc to sample! n its super nice!! yums! =) aft all tt i took the cable car back to my hostel.

A day in heaven...
ok. it would be more like heaven if there were no cars.. cos i tink heaven no need cars cos everyone got wings.. but still it was so nice!! i went to the golden gate bridge in the aftnoon (and it was still 'spare the air day'! hahaaha) but was a little disappointed to find tt i cant even see the bridge cos the fog was so super thick la! u can really see the fog rolling into the city from the ocean. (its actually quite nice) n it was feezing even tho its summer! but den aft i started my hike across the bridge i tot it was juz damn nice w the fog arnd the bridge cos it adds a mysteriously feel to it. kinda makes it more majestic too cos it really feels like i'm on a bridge in heaven cos when i look arnd me everyt is juz white.. like i'm in a cloud lidat. n when the fog clears up a little, can see the vast ocean arnd u, right left centre bottom. n suddenly i juz felt super small n insignificant n abit lost. den suddenly i saw some ppl actually windsurfing in the middle of the vast ocean la! cant imagine wat will happen if they capsize! the waves n current will juz gobble them up la! GULP! CRUNCH CRUNCH...
haahaha anw the weirdest part is tt it is super sunny on the other side of the bridge!!
before goin to the golden gate bridge, i went to alamo sq in the morning. its the place where most of the victorian houses are congregated. nice?? and u can see the city sky scrapers in the background. really shows the contrast in types of buildings in SF.
den went to haight ashbury. the shops there are really cool. kinda like it there. aft tt went to golden gate park. went to the flower conservatory, japanese tea garden and the de young museum. hm the park is really pretty w alot of nice flowers.

Pride Parade
was really lucky to be able to witness one of the largest pride parade in US. juz so happen tt i was there on the weekend tt it was gona be held. got a lot of pics n vids on it. haaahaah n actually caught this guy riding his motorcycle totally naked on tape... haaha next time den show u all.. aiyo! next time muz really show u all all the pics i took here. got so many! hahahah
i din stay for the whole parade cos had to leave for LA at 12pm. took a shuttle n got to LA aft an 8-hr ride. the shuttle dropped me at santa monica beach n i din know how to get to UCLA fr there.. so i juz went to one of the busstops w a sign tt has a bus and says tt it goes to UCLA and hopped onto the bus. den the bus driver told me tt she would be stopping at this place in UCLA tt din sound like anyt to me so i juz said ok. anw i'l be at UCLA.. better than nth.. but tt was the start of a new adventure la..

i reached the sch at arnd 9pm. i was supposed to check into the apartment before 8pm. but they said if i were to check in aft tt i can juz call this certain no.. so i called tt no.. only to find out tt the no they provided is not in use... so i tried calling another service hotline.. n its really a HOT line cos i cannot get through cos engaged.. i tried a few times n juz cannot get through. den i juz super sian diao. so din know wat to do but tot stand down there oso no use so i asked this lady hu happened to walk by how to get to the place i supposed to go if i had arrived before 8pm. the lady was super nice! she drove me there n gave me her no so tt i can call her if anyt happens during my stay here in UCLA n when i need some help. tink in Singapore sure cannot find such nice ppl one lo.. hahaha. anw, i guess they told us to arrive there before 8 pm for a reason cos tt place was closed when i reached there. and since the nice lady left le n i oso paiseh to call n bother her, i decided maybe can try callin the HOT line again. den i realised there got no public phone.. so i went to the nearest apartment n stuck my head through one of the open windows to borrow a phone... so paiseh.. den tried call le still engaged.. den cannot bother the person so i decided to go to the place i assumed i'd be stayin (which turned out to be NOT the place i was supposed to stay) and see how. hahahah so i walked up the freaking hills (this place is filled w hills n slopes la! i tink my calf muscles will be damn gao when i get back to singapore lo) ,and somemore with my luggage, to the stupid place which requires a code to enter.. so again i'm stuck by the roadside not knowing wat to do.. tink this really the first time i felt so lost la! haahah foreign land... den late at night like 11 lidat..den w my all my luggage.. den super damn cold... den hungry n tired cos of the stupid 8-hr ride fr SF and all the walkin up the damn slopes.. den worst thing is no public phones n no nearby apartments cos all need code to access.. n i dunno wat to do!! hahhaah like movie not?!? cant believe it la! so in the end ended up stopping another guy along the road n askin him for help.. borrowed his phone to call tt SUPER HOT line.. but ya... still HOT n engaged.. so he decided to press the intercom for the apartments to ask for help. n FINALLY got somewhere. the person told him tt i shld go to this farny place where i hve again no idea where it is. N i tell u.. the ppl here really damn nice la.. juz like the lady before, he gave me a ride in his car to the dunno wat place n gave me his no so tt i can call him if i need any help.. singapore cant even find one person lidat and i met two here in 2 hours!( thus i concluded tt the ppl here are really helpful and friendly. and they really are. really.) so finally i got to the place to check in to my apartment. the person told me where my apartment was n yea.. again.. i dunno where the hell is tt stupid place...n so.. like i said before.. haaha the ppl here are really nice, one of the staff drove me up to my place. she even gave me a short orientation of how to get to sch n stuff. by the time i got to my apartment, i was like super tired n sian le. hahaha ok so the end of one adventure.
ahaaha anw aft tt found out got a singaporean in my apartment. at tt time dunno to be sian or happy cos at tt time i tot she's damn mean la.. anw aft tt found out its a misunderstanding so now i tink she's ok. hahaa my roomie is a San Franciscan hu is like super nice. she's a senior in UCLA n has been stayin here for past few years. so damn shiok cos she got all the stuff like pots n utensils n spices n water filter n all the essential stuff! damn zai! den she oso knows the system of the sch n stuff so she juz told me watever i wanna know..
i tink i'm fated to be in 11.. in ntu i in hall 11.. here i stay in apartment 11.. and both are super far away fr sch... anw my add here is 558 glenrock ave apartment 11.. dunno the postal code tho.. but its not like u all gona send stuff here la cos tink by the time the stuff reaches i'l be back in singapore le.. hee show u my apartment..

(its actually quite nice) n it was feezing even tho its summer! but den aft i started my hike across the bridge i tot it was juz damn nice w the fog arnd the bridge cos it adds a mysteriously feel to it. kinda makes it more majestic too cos it really feels like i'm on a bridge in heaven cos when i look arnd me everyt is juz white.. like i'm in a cloud lidat. n when the fog clears up a little, can see the vast ocean arnd u, right left centre bottom. n suddenly i juz felt super small n insignificant n abit lost. den suddenly i saw some ppl actually windsurfing in the middle of the vast ocean la! cant imagine wat will happen if they capsize! the waves n current will juz gobble them up la! GULP! CRUNCH CRUNCH...
haahaha anw the weirdest part is tt it is super sunny on the other side of the bridge!!
before goin to the golden gate bridge, i went to alamo sq in the morning. its the place where most of the victorian houses are congregated. nice?? and u can see the city sky scrapers in the background. really shows the contrast in types of buildings in SF.
den went to haight ashbury. the shops there are really cool. kinda like it there. aft tt went to golden gate park. went to the flower conservatory, japanese tea garden and the de young museum. hm the park is really pretty w alot of nice flowers.

went on a walking tour organised by the hostel. went to the touristy places n oso places with nice scenery!

Pride Parade
was really lucky to be able to witness one of the largest pride parade in US. juz so happen tt i was there on the weekend tt it was gona be held. got a lot of pics n vids on it. haaahaah n actually caught this guy riding his motorcycle totally naked on tape... haaha next time den show u all.. aiyo! next time muz really show u all all the pics i took here. got so many! hahahah
i din stay for the whole parade cos had to leave for LA at 12pm. took a shuttle n got to LA aft an 8-hr ride. the shuttle dropped me at santa monica beach n i din know how to get to UCLA fr there.. so i juz went to one of the busstops w a sign tt has a bus and says tt it goes to UCLA and hopped onto the bus. den the bus driver told me tt she would be stopping at this place in UCLA tt din sound like anyt to me so i juz said ok. anw i'l be at UCLA.. better than nth.. but tt was the start of a new adventure la..
(u can go take a break here if u want.. hahahahah see.. i so welfare.. still recommend when u shld take breaks.. hahahah anw paiseh so long-winded ar.. really got so much to tell! i'm gona burst if i dun say everyt.)
i reached the sch at arnd 9pm. i was supposed to check into the apartment before 8pm. but they said if i were to check in aft tt i can juz call this certain no.. so i called tt no.. only to find out tt the no they provided is not in use... so i tried calling another service hotline.. n its really a HOT line cos i cannot get through cos engaged.. i tried a few times n juz cannot get through. den i juz super sian diao. so din know wat to do but tot stand down there oso no use so i asked this lady hu happened to walk by how to get to the place i supposed to go if i had arrived before 8pm. the lady was super nice! she drove me there n gave me her no so tt i can call her if anyt happens during my stay here in UCLA n when i need some help. tink in Singapore sure cannot find such nice ppl one lo.. hahaha. anw, i guess they told us to arrive there before 8 pm for a reason cos tt place was closed when i reached there. and since the nice lady left le n i oso paiseh to call n bother her, i decided maybe can try callin the HOT line again. den i realised there got no public phone.. so i went to the nearest apartment n stuck my head through one of the open windows to borrow a phone... so paiseh.. den tried call le still engaged.. den cannot bother the person so i decided to go to the place i assumed i'd be stayin (which turned out to be NOT the place i was supposed to stay) and see how. hahahah so i walked up the freaking hills (this place is filled w hills n slopes la! i tink my calf muscles will be damn gao when i get back to singapore lo) ,and somemore with my luggage, to the stupid place which requires a code to enter.. so again i'm stuck by the roadside not knowing wat to do.. tink this really the first time i felt so lost la! haahah foreign land... den late at night like 11 lidat..den w my all my luggage.. den super damn cold... den hungry n tired cos of the stupid 8-hr ride fr SF and all the walkin up the damn slopes.. den worst thing is no public phones n no nearby apartments cos all need code to access.. n i dunno wat to do!! hahhaah like movie not?!? cant believe it la! so in the end ended up stopping another guy along the road n askin him for help.. borrowed his phone to call tt SUPER HOT line.. but ya... still HOT n engaged.. so he decided to press the intercom for the apartments to ask for help. n FINALLY got somewhere. the person told him tt i shld go to this farny place where i hve again no idea where it is. N i tell u.. the ppl here really damn nice la.. juz like the lady before, he gave me a ride in his car to the dunno wat place n gave me his no so tt i can call him if i need any help.. singapore cant even find one person lidat and i met two here in 2 hours!( thus i concluded tt the ppl here are really helpful and friendly. and they really are. really.) so finally i got to the place to check in to my apartment. the person told me where my apartment was n yea.. again.. i dunno where the hell is tt stupid place...n so.. like i said before.. haaha the ppl here are really nice, one of the staff drove me up to my place. she even gave me a short orientation of how to get to sch n stuff. by the time i got to my apartment, i was like super tired n sian le. hahaha ok so the end of one adventure.
ahaaha anw aft tt found out got a singaporean in my apartment. at tt time dunno to be sian or happy cos at tt time i tot she's damn mean la.. anw aft tt found out its a misunderstanding so now i tink she's ok. hahaa my roomie is a San Franciscan hu is like super nice. she's a senior in UCLA n has been stayin here for past few years. so damn shiok cos she got all the stuff like pots n utensils n spices n water filter n all the essential stuff! damn zai! den she oso knows the system of the sch n stuff so she juz told me watever i wanna know..
i tink i'm fated to be in 11.. in ntu i in hall 11.. here i stay in apartment 11.. and both are super far away fr sch... anw my add here is 558 glenrock ave apartment 11.. dunno the postal code tho.. but its not like u all gona send stuff here la cos tink by the time the stuff reaches i'l be back in singapore le.. hee show u my apartment..

this post really super long. n i know u got alot of breaks in between when reading le but i haven had any since i started typing.. hahaah so i gona go slp now n continue another day! anw hope u din find it too boring! i already tried to make it interesting! haahaah my level jiu shi zhe yang le! its 0411hrs here. haha ok nitez! =)
